After It's Kind

In Genesis 1 vs 11-25 as we read about God creating the trees with fruit, the herb yielding seed, the living creatures such as whales, winged fowls, and all creeping things, we witness an important piece of doctrine from these verses:

Each time that God created something new he explained that it was created " after it's kind".

As we count how many times that phrase " it's kind" is stated in these verses, we can see the great message in this pattern that was set forth.

The doctrine of each creations multiplying and producing something of  " it's kind " is mentioned ten times in these verses.

From this witness we can see that first, the kind of parent that each creation has is what it later will develop into; thus it has become; " it's kind ".

An important piece of this doctrine of what " kind " we as human beings are capable of becoming; can be found as we compare the specific words used in the process of creating us.

Note that in all of these verses up until verse 26 the scriptures state that " God said "one example is:
" God said, Let the earth bring for the living creatures after it's kind " ( vs 24 ).

However in verse 26 as God creates man, the scripture specifically states,

" And God said, LET US make man in OUR own image, after OUR likeness. "

Here in is the great doctrine that He used the phrase " LET US " because offspring comes from two people, and importantly- male and female ( "A same gender relationship does not multiply" - Be fruitful and Multiply and Subdue the earth - Joseph W. Sitati ). We are not merely creations, but also His literal offspring.

So as we take His pattern set forth that each creation is made to produce after " it's kind ",
We too can expect that His offspring, will produce His kind.

" Moses: Man of Miracles " states it this way:

" God would not violate his own laws. When he decreed that all reproduction was to be after it's kind, he obeyed the same law. We are therefore of the race of God. To follow an opposite philosophy is to lead us into atheism."

C.S. Lewis put it wonderfully this way:

" For God is not merely mending, not simply restoring a status quo. Redeemed humanity is to be something more glorious than any unfallen race now is....This supernal added glory will with true vicariousness, exalts us. "

Elder Callister;s approach to explain this doctrine is my favorite as he states in his talk titled, " Identity of our Destiny ", he explains:

" Can a building ever become an architect? A painting a painter? An invention an inventor?
Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, God can exalt all His children- meaning empower them to become like Him."

My heart is full of gratitude that I know whom my Father in Heaven is; for in this truth that I am His offspring I have more confidence in my abilities through Him of what capacity that I will have to serve Him. Also, I have a clear witness of just how loving that He is. For what Father would not want His child to have all that He has and more? And when that child was able; through Him; to attain all that He has and more ( Luke 15:31 , Matthew 25:21 , Romans 8:17 ) ; would it not give that Father more honor to have yet created more righteous fruit?

Lastly, I see His patterns at work again through this process of  "dividing the light from the darkness" ( Genesis 1: 4 ) , as we are all created " after His kind " , yet are being organized after " Our kind " even still;  as we will meet Him at His judgment seat, to be judged according to our works or after what manner of fruit that we produced; as this is a witness of the level " of kind " that we have become; by using the Atonement and spiritual gifts that He has given us ( Alma 12:12 ). And finally we will be organized again, and placed after " our kind ", as stated best in
1 Corinthians 15:41-42 as it explains:

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown incorruption; it is raised in incorruption:

I am so very thankful for the truths that I have in the scriptures. I will endlessly love those whom have sacrificed for the possibility of myself and all of His children to have these witnesses of who my Father is in the scriptures.

I say this in the name of Jesus Christ.Amen.
